Safe Sleep Matters: Supporting Families with Confidence and Care

Creating safe sleep environments for babies and young children is at the heart of everything I do as a certified child sleep consultant. As someone who works alongside guidance from the NHS and The Lullaby Trust, I am deeply committed to helping families develop healthy sleep habits while always prioritising safe sleep practices.

With over 8 years of experience in the child sleep industry, I have not only supported hundreds of families directly, but I have also trained and mentored other sleep consultants within my professional role. My approach combines evidence-based sleep support, compassion and realistic guidance tailored to each family.

Why Safe Sleep Is So Important

Safe sleep guidance is designed to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and ensure babies sleep in the safest possible environment.

I strongly encourage all families to familiarise themselves with current safe sleep recommendations from trusted organisations including:

These organisations provide the most up-to-date and evidence-based guidance available for families.

Core Safe Sleep Recommendations

Current safe sleep guidance includes:

  • Always place your baby on their back to sleep

  • Use a firm, flat, waterproof mattress in a safe sleep space

  • Keep the sleep area clear of pillows, loose blankets, toys, nests, and bumpers

  • Share a room with your baby for at least the first 6 months

  • Avoid overheating and monitor room temperature carefully

  • Keep your baby smoke-free during pregnancy and after birth

  • Ensure daytime naps follow the same safe sleep principles as night-time sleep

Safe sleep is never something to compromise on, and all advice provided through my services aligns with recognised safe sleep recommendations.

What You Will Get Working With Me

When families work with me, they can expect:

Evidence-Based Support

Every recommendation I provide is grounded in safe sleep guidance and responsive, developmentally appropriate practices.

Non-Judgemental Guidance

Parenthood can feel overwhelming. My role is to support, educate and empower families without shame or pressure.

Personalised Sleep Plans

No two children are the same. I tailor support to your child’s age, temperament, developmental stage and your parenting values.

Safe Sleep Always Prioritised

Your child’s safety will always come before sleep goals, routines or expectations.

Professional Experience & Expertise

With 8 years of hands-on experience, professional certification and experience mentoring other sleep consultants, families receive trusted and knowledgeable support.

Ongoing Encouragement

Sleep challenges can feel isolating. I work alongside families with empathy, reassurance and realistic expectations.

What You Will Never Get From Me

It is equally important for families to know what they will not receive when working with me.

Unsafe Sleep Advice

I will never recommend practices that go against NHS or The Lullaby Trust safe sleep guidance.

Shame-Based Parenting Advice

You will never be criticised for your parenting choices or made to feel judged.

“One-Size-Fits-All” Approaches

Children are individuals. I do not believe in rigid methods that ignore a child’s emotional or developmental needs.

Pressure to Leave Your Baby to Cry Alone

My support focuses on responsive and respectful approaches tailored to your comfort levels.

Unrealistic Promises

Sleep is developmental and ever-changing. I believe in honest, realistic support rather than quick-fix promises.

A Gentle, Safe, and Supportive Approach

My goal is always to help families feel informed, confident, and supported while ensuring safe sleep remains central to every recommendation.

If you are navigating sleep challenges and would like professional guidance rooted in safety, compassion, and experience, I would love to support you.
